In addition to being clean water stewards at home, individuals and families can investigate these activities: Mighty Mississippi River Passport Program The Mighty Mississippi River Passport Program is a collection of family-friendly activities on or near the river in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Area and at the Mississippi Headwaters in northern Minnesota. Order your passport and collect a different stamp for each activity you take part in! When you complete your passport-stamping page, send it in and you will get a Mighty Mississippi Junior Ranger Badge and Certificate. The Web site is kept current with what’s happening around the cities — if you have a free morning or afternoon, check the Web site calendar for something fun and interesting happening nearby. Most passport activities are accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. They are usually within walking distance of a metro bus stop. To check out the bus routes, contact Metro Transit. Water quality monitoring for individuals and groups Whether you are interested in lakes, rivers or wetlands, there is a volunteer water-quality monitoring program for you!
